I am looking for 2-3 local gals to work as high school senior reps for Megan Turnidge Photography for the 2012-2013 school year. How does this program work, exactly? I will select a few teens who will be seniors during the 2012-2013 school year and they will work to spread the word and promote my senior sessions. Your rewards get better as you work harder to send me referrals. Each senior rep will receive:
1. A 45 minute mini session to be completed by April 30th and 10 low res photos sized for web and Facebook display only
2. A full length session to be completed by July 31st and 20 low res photos sized for web and Facebook display only, 1 high resolution photo for the yearbook, and awesome senior rep cards (with your gorgeous face on them) to hand out to all your friends!
Only the low res photos (and 1 yearbook photo) are included for free in these sessions. In order to earn all your high res photos, CASH REWARDS, and even prints, you have to work to promote Megan Turnidge Photography. You will tell all your friends about your awesome photos and send them my way to get their photos taken too! As you send more referrals, you earn more awesome stuff! (a qualifying referral is someone referred by you who books, pays for, and completes a session BEFORE April 30th, 2013 and mentions before their session that they were referred by you)
As a senior rep, if you send me 3 qualifying referrals, you will receive ALL the high resolution files from both your sessions!
If you send me 5 qualifying referrals, you will ALSO receive $50 in cash!
If you send me 10 total qualifying referrals, you will receive $100 MORE in cash (in addition to the $50 already earned), 24 wallet prints, and two 8×10 prints!
Pretty awesome rewards, right?!
So, if you are a super photogenic gal who is outgoing, fun, willing to promote Megan Turnidge Photography, and will be a high school senior for the 2012-2013 school year, then fill out this application! I will be accepting applications through March 15th, 2012. I will be accepting 2-3 reps, preferably from different high schools (Thatcher High School, Safford High School, or Pima High School).
Having trouble loading the application? Click here.

As soon as you book your portrait session, I’m sure you begin to start thinking about what you are going to wear for your session. Your clothing should reflect who you are and show off your personality! You *must* be more interesting than a plain ol’ white shirt and jeans, right?
1. Most important is that you choose clothing that is flattering and that you are comfortable in. If your clothes do not fit well, you will not feel your best and that will be translated into your photos. For families, mom is generally the most self conscious and, as a result, I suggest finding clothing for her FIRST – something that’s going to make her feel fabulous and beautiful – then build the rest of the family’s wardrobe around her outfit. Make sure you know what type of clothes flatter your body type. I’m an hourglass and while I love turtleneck sweaters, they do not flatter my body type. I look much better in v-necks and sweetheart necklines.
2. Pick colors that make your eyes pop and complement your skin tone. While I love red dresses and sweaters, I’ve learned that red just doesn’t look very good on me and washes me out. Black is popular because it is slimming, but it can tend to make some people look really pale. Don’t be afraid of COLOR! I love color. All different kinds of color! Don’t stick with black and white and khaki… show off who you are! Do you love jewel tones?! GREAT! Wear them! Are you more of a shabby chic soul? Pair a champagne colored blouse with cream and peach accessories.
3. Layer it up and add texture! Layered outfits look GREAT in portraits. Layers and different textures add a great deal of visual interest to an image. Throw a tailored blazer over that ruffled blouse for a fabulous look. Put a lace cami under that cardigan for added texture. For dad, throw a military style jacket over a casual button-up.
4. Accessorize. Long necklaces are in right now and go great with so many different styles of clothing! A simple strand of pearls can really make a classy outfit look amazing! Do you love wearing flowers in your hair? Peruse the headbands and clips on Etsy and find some unique hair accessories (and be sure to check out Flower Bucket Boutique, a local gal)! You can also find all sorts of gorgeous crocheted and knit hats. Just like layers, accessories can be taken off or added through a session to change your look.
5. Coordinate… but don’t match. It seems most people believe that a family should match in their photos. Borrrrriiiiiiiing! Wear clothing that complements one another, but doesn’t make you all look exactly the same. Don’t put everyone in the same type of top – even if you get different colored polos for each person, it’s still a bit too matchy-matchy if everyone is still wearing a polo. You can also consider switching up what everyone is wearing on bottom. You don’t all have to wear dress slacks or all wear jeans. You can put little sister in a fun skirt, mom in a dress, little brother in slacks, and dad in khakis.
6. Use patterns wisely: You can wear some patterned clothing, but choose carefully. You don’t want patterns to be distracting or competing for attention in the photos. Putting everyone in a patterned shirt will likely make your images too “busy.” I’ve seen patterns used really well and I’ve seen them used very poorly.
7. Ditch large logos or shirts with silly quotes. They can just be obnoxious. Enough said.

Some more from the 1940’s vintage couple session I did this last weekend (previous post is here). I’ve been looking forward to shooting a vintage themed engagement session for a long time and this couple did not disappoint! They came incredibly well styled and prepared with lots of fun props! Thanks for an amazing session, you guys! I loved every second of it!
I can’t decide if I like these images better in color or in black & white. Gorgeous either way!

Imagine my excitement when this super gorgeous couple came to me and wanted to book a vintage themed couple session. 1940’s. I nearly died. I’ve said before that I wish we’d just bring back the 40’s style… it’s so classic and beautiful. I had so many fun ideas that just came to me with this theme and I had a total ball shooting this session! More to come within the next few days.

Just last week my sweet, amazing Grandmother passed away. She lived such a long, wonderful life and died at the age of 91 and had been married to my grandpa for nearly 68 years (love like that is so rare these days, and they were so sweet together). I visited her last fall and forgot to bring my camera, so I didn’t get any photos of her.
I want to cry just thinking about it! I, the photographer, didn’t get any photos of our visit. Major fail. Well, I was able to fly to California to go to her funeral and see my Grandpa, and lots of aunts, uncles, and cousins. I was sure to bring the camera along this time. My favorite capture is this photo of my grandpa, my dad, and my baby boy. So sweet. It brings tears to my eyes. I will cherish this photo always.

Well, it’s been forever since I posted on here. I’ve been taking loads of photos though! See, this sweet little guy entered my life and I’m totally in love….

He’s almost 3 months old now! I can’t believe how quickly they grow.
My little girl also just started preschool and I’m a super proud mama.
